A unique sticky service of its kind “Buddy Chat” that will make you rolling on the floor. It is a great way to socialize with people through the service which is both fun and safe. It allows users to talk to other interesting users on the portal anonymously without revealing their phone numbers. Similar to WEB based chat rooms, SMS Buddy Chat allows ZONG subscribers to chat with and connect to other like minded people over SMS. The service not only allows public chatting with lots of other people in a room, but also enables private chatting between users. It’s all up to you whether you would like to chat with everyone in the room or you would like to chat with someone in private and Say It All.

Service mechanics
Getting Started
To get started a user is asked to simply send the command CHAT to the service 838
If they haven’t done so already, the user is asked to create a profile
(nick, age, gender and location)(this step is omitted if the user has already created a profile)
The user is then sent a list of rooms (most active first)
The user can also go to a room directly by sending
the command CHAT<space><room name>, e.g.

Public chatting
To take part in a public chat, a user selects a room from the list of rooms sent to him in response to the CHAT command The user can also go to a room directly by sending the command CHAT<space><room name>, e.g. CHAT love
Once in a room a user can undertake the following actions:
Chat with users in a room (Send a message to everyone in the room / receive messages)
View users / Search for users in a room
Invite another user currently in the room for a private chat
Leave a chat room
Private chatting
A user can conduct a search for users that match a certain criteria e.g. Islamabad based females of a certain age.
Enter a chat room and view list of people in the room.
In both cases, the user is sent a list of nicks (that match his / her criteria if the user conducted a search, or are the nicks of people currently in the room). A user can then invite a particular nick / user to start a private chat (which the invited user must accept for a private chat to start).
Once another user accepts a chat request, both users can start sending and receiving private messages.
How to Activate
To conduct a private chat with another user:
To get Help -> Send HELP to 838 & you will get help on how to get started & how to search friends
To start chatting -> Send CHAT to 838 (first time users are asked to complete profile comprising of nick, age, gender and location)
To enter a chat room -> Select a room from the list of rooms sent to user when he / she sends CHAT to 838
To chat with other users in a chat room -> Reply to chat room messages or send a message to the chat room short code
To get a list of users in a room -> reply LIST to a chat room message or send LIST to chat room short code
To leave a chat room -> Reply EXIT to a chat room message
To invite another user to a private chat -> NICK<space>message e.g. koolcat hello want to chat?
